The Harvard and Radcliffe crews recently returned from Bradenton, Fla., where they spent 10 days training on the Manatee River at the newly built Ft. Hamer Boathouse.
The trip, for men's and women's heavyweight and lightweight crews, has become an important annual event for the teams. The time spent on the water improves fitness and technique, and provides an invaluable jump start to the spring racing season. The student-athletes are now back on campus for the start of spring classes.
Typically the Charles River is frozen at this time of year; but the crews returned to a welcome and unusual surprise: an early thaw.
The Harvard lightweights will race Cornell and Penn at Cornell in their first race of the season, April 7.
