Freshman and Varsity Eights Take Top Two Spots at Princeton Chase

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Harvard lightweights
competed at the annual Princeton Chase Oct 25 at Lake Carnegie.
Eight boats competed at the event. The varsity teams raced in three
eights and four fours. Highlighting the Chase for the Crimson was
the freshman A team who won its race easily.
The Princeton 3-Mile Chase is an invitational head-race hosted
annually by Princeton for both men and women collegiate crews. The
event is composed of races for lightweight women, open women,
lightweight men and heavyweight men.
In the freshman lightweight eights, Harvard won with a time of
13:58.086, a decisive 15.84 seconds ahead of the second-place Navy
boat. The Harvard A team placed second in the varsity lightweight
eights with a time of 13:23.708, a little more than four seconds
behind the first-place Princeton A team. In the varsity lightweight
fours event, Harvard’s A boat placed second with a time of
14:48.045, only .437 behind the first-place Princeton A team.
Harvard’s lightweight men’s team will return to action
at the Tail of the Charles, Nov 21.
