Strong Showing For Harvard, Radcliffe at 49th Head of the Charles Regatta

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard and Radcliffe rowing posted strong performances at the 49th-annual Head of the Charles Regatta in a strong headwind Sunday. The Radcliffe heavyweight eight set a course record in the club eight event, rowing the final split in a blistering 2:54.995 to defeat Brown (16:46.704) by nearly five seconds for the event win.
The Black and White posted a time of 16:41.930.
The Harvard heavyweight crew took third overall – and first among collegiate squads – in the championship eights event. The Crimson posted a strong time of 14:43.027, narrowly behind OTC Amsterdam (14:41.171) and USRowing (14:42.653).
Radcliffe lightweight crew took second in the championship eight event Sunday. The Black and White finished with a time of 17:15.232 to trail only the Netherlands (Minerva Rowing Club).
The Harvard lightweight eight ranked second in the championship eights event, finishing with a time of 15:12.094. The Crimson bested third-place finisher Yale by over 10 seconds.
