Susan Saint Sing, the author of the book The Eight: A Season in the Tradition of Harvard Crew, will host a discussion/signing at the Harvard COOP on April 17 at 3 p.m.
The Eight is a thrilling, behind-the scenes look at a group of young men who have given up nearly everything to transform themselves into the best team possible at arguably the world’s most venerable rowing institution, Harvard. Through a blend of journalistic writing and historical narrative, Saint Sing highlights their struggles and triumphs as she follows them through the spring season of 2008.
Saint Sing received a doctorate in kinesiology from Penn State and was a member of the 1993 U.S. world rowing team. In 25 years of coaching at Kent, Cincinnati, Penn State and Stetson, she has led college and scholastic crews to three national championship rowing medals. This is her second book.
The discussion/signing will take place on the third floor of the COOP at 1400 Massachusetts Ave. For more information visit, www.thecoop.com.
