Eleven former Harvard rowers will travel to Spain to represent
the university at the Real Circulo de Labradores de Sevilla (Royal
Circus of Seville Labradors) International Regatta Sept. 26.
Oxford, Cambridge, Harvard and Yale were invited to compete against
the team of Royal Circle Farmers and another selection from
Andalusia to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Seville rowing
club.
The Crimson entry will consist of rowers who graduated in the last
three years. Harry Parker, the Stone Family Head Coach for
Men’s Crew, had not set the line up before departing for
Spain, but will have the following oarsmen to choose from: James
Bayley ’09, Hugo Beekman ’09, Andrew Boston ’07,
James Canning ’09, Phil Kaiser ’07, William Rueter
’09, Henrik Rummel ’09, John Stroh ’09 and Matt
Webb ’09. Jessica Hoy ’07 will serve as coxswain.
The competition is a round robin event that will consist of a
1,000 meter race on the Guadalquivir River.
