Men's Basketball Announces Addition of Three Members to the Class of 2018

Chatfield, Egi and Yoshor will join the four-time defending Ivy League champions this fall (Gil Talbot).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard men's basketball team will welcome three student-athletes from the Class of 2018 to the program this fall; Andre Chatfield, Chris Egi and Zach Yoshor.

"We are excited to have Andre, Chris and Zach join our program," head coach Tommy Amaker stated. "Each has succeeded at both the individual and team level and will contribute to our basketball program as we continue to strive for excellence."

The trio will join a Crimson program which has won four straight Ivy League championships and earned three consecutive trips to the NCAA tournament. The 2013-14 team went 27-5 overall and 13-1 against the Ancient Eight, setting new program records for overall wins and conference victories. Harvard advanced to the third round of the 'Big Dance' for a second consecutive season with a 61-57 win over fifth-seeded Cincinnati and along the way also won the 2013 Great Alaska Shootout title.

Helped Norcross High School to a Georgia 6A State Championship as a junior, a Final Four appearance as a senior and an overall record of 52-13 over two years … Named Atlanta Tipoff Club All-Metro honorable mention as a junior and senior, and Gwinnett Tip-Off Club All-County honorable mention as a junior … Played his freshmen and sophomore years at Parkview High School … Also played for the Atlanta Celtics AAU team as a sophomore and junior, and the Georgia Stars as a freshman and sophomore … Captained Norcross as a senior and Parkview as a sophomore … Member of the National Honor Society and French Honor Society … Received a Georgia Certificate of Merit as a junior and attended the Global Young Leaders Conference as a sophomore … Father, Eric, played basketball at New Mexico and most recently played for Cholet in France's ProA League … Mother, Rene, played basketball at Georgia State.

Helped Montverde Academy win the 2014 Dick's Sporting Goods High School National Tournament, achieve an overall record of 28-0 and a final ranking of No. 1 in the country from USA Today, MaxPreps and PrepNation … Averaged 6.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 2.7 bpg while shooting 64.3 percent from the field in the Dick's Sporting Goods High School National Tournament … Named a Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament All-Star and received the Bass Pro Tournament of Champions Father John Savage Sportsmanship Award … Also played varsity basketball at St. Andrew's College (Canada) for four years and captained the team three years … Won a National Canadian Championship in 2011 with St. Andrew's and was named team MVP in 2010 and 2013 … Named captain of the 2014 Canadian Junior Men's National Team which won the silver medal at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship … Averaged 13.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg at the FIBA Americas U18 Championship, including an 18-point, 13-rebound performance against Team USA in the gold medal game … Averaged 5.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg and 1.3 bpg in helping Team Canada place sixth at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championships … Also competed at the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championships and 2011 FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Team Canada … Served as Vice President of the Entrepreneurship Club in 2013 at St. Andrew's and was also a member of the Outreach Council, Middle School Mentoring Program, McEwen Leadership Program, Extended French Program, Bible Study Club, Federation of Christian Athletes, African Heritage Club, wind ensemble and cadet band.

Beren Academy reach the Texas state finals as a junior and to a Final Four appearance as a senior … Also helped Beren Academy to back-to-back district championships in 2012 and 2013 … Named first team All-State and Academic All-State three straight years from 2011-13 … Received District MVP and All-City honors as a senior and was named to the Texas state all-tournament team as a junior … Played AAU for the Houston Preps and Houston Defenders … Named to the Honor Roll all four years of high school and created a recycling program at Beren Academy.
