Saunders Honored on USBWA All-District I Team

Saunders is averaging 16.5 points per game this season (Joe Murphy).

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard sophomore guard Wesley Saunders has been named to the United States Basketball Writers Association All-District I team, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.

Saunders, a native of Los Angeles, Calif., has helped the Crimson win its third straight Ivy League title this year, going 19-9 overall and 11-3 in the Ancient Eight. In the process, Harvard has advanced to the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive season and third time in program history.

Saunders has reached double figures in scoring in all 28 contests and leads the Ivy in scoring with 16.5 points per game. He also paced the league with 1.9 assists per contest and is third in minutes per game (37.3). The sophomore standout is shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 72.5 percent from the foul line.
 
A five-time Ivy League Player of the Week choice, Saunders has started all 28 games for Harvard and has recorded one double-double on the season.
