Saunders, Chambers Sweep Ivy League Weekly Awards for Second Time

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Sophomore guard Wesley Saunders was tabbed Ivy League Co-Player of the Week, while freshman guard Siyani Chambers was honored as Ivy Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced.

Saunders and Chambers also swept the Ivy awards Dec. 3. Saunders has been tabbed Ivy Player of the Week three times (Dec. 3, Dec. 10, Jan. 14), while this is the fourth time Chambers has taken home a conference weekly award (Dec. 3, Dec. 10, Jan.7, Jan. 14).
A native of Los Angeles, Calif., Saunders went 8-of-9 from the field, tallying 19 points, and handed out a career-high six assists as the Crimson began Ivy League play with a 75-65 win at Dartmouth Jan. 5. Saunders leads Harvard and the Ivy League with 16.4 points per game and 2.0 steals per contest and has reached double figures in scoring in all 14 games this season. He also ranks fourth in the Ancient Eight in shooting percentage (.544) and fifth with 35.5 minutes per game.
Chambers, who hails from Golden Valley, Minn., handed out six assists and scored a career-high 22 points and was 3-of-3 from beyond the arc against the Big Green. Chambers ranks first in the conference with 6.0 assists per game and is second in 3-point shooting (.500). He also stands seventh in the Ancient Eight with 13.3 points per game and second with 37.4 minutes per contest.
