CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman guard Siyani Chambers averaged 15.0 points and 7.5 assists per game in two contests last week and was rewarded with his third Ivy League Rookie of the Week honor this season.
Chambers, a nominee for the Cousy Award, given annually to the nation's top point guard, went 5-of-5 from 3-point range and finished with 16 points at St. Mary's Dec. 31. On a nationally televised game on ESPN2, Chambers also handed out seven assists in 39 minutes against the Gaels.
A native of Golden Valley, Minn., Chambers recorded the first double-double of this career at home against Rice Jan. 5, as he tallied 14 points and handed out a career-best 10 assists. Chambers knocked down two more 3-pointers and also grabbed four rebounds in the victory over the Owls.
Chambers leads the Ivy League with 6.0 assists per game and is second on the Crimson with 12.6 points per contest. Chambers also paces the conference in free-throw shooting (.898) and is second in minutes played (37.4 mpg).
