CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard junior forward Keith Wright has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District First Team in an announcement made Wednesday.
Wright, a co-captain of the Crimson, was joined by four other players on the District 13 first team and five student-athletes on the second team. There are 24 districts in all and a total of 120 players will move on for consideration for All-America honors. The first team also featured Princeton’s Ian Hummer, Lehigh’s C.J. McCollum, American’s Vlad Moldoveanu and Bucknell’s Mike Muscala.
Wright, a native of Sullolk, Va., led Harvard in scoring with 14.9 points per game and rebounds with 8.5 boards per contest. He earned 12 double-doubles on the season and received three Ivy League Player of the Week accolades. He paced the Ivy League in shooting percentage (.588), finished second in the Ivy in rebounding and ranked third in the league in scoring. Wright also stood second in the conference with 1.8 blocks per game and led the Ancient Eight with 3.3 offensive rebounds per contest.
Wright and the Crimson (23-5, 12-2 Ivy) will face Princeton (24-6, 12-2) in a one-game playoff to determine the Ivy League’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament Saturday, March 12 at 4 p.m. The game will be played at Yale’s Lee Amphitheater in New Haven, Conn.
