CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The defending Ivy League champion Harvard field hockey team has announced the addition of six newcomers as the Class of 2021. Joining the Crimson in the fall will be: Tessel Huibregtsen, Kolbe Keating, Sage Nye, Hannah Pearce, Natalie Sicher and Mimi Tarrant.
"We are very excited to welcome Kolbe, Sage, Natalie, Tessel, Mimi and Hannah to Harvard and to become part of our program," said head coach Tjerk van Herwaardern. "This group of very talented young women will be a great addition as we continue to strive for academic integration and competitive excellence. This group brings a tremendous amount of national and international hockey experience to our program. They strive for reaching their potential in all aspects of life and they will hugely impact the strength of our team on and off the field. As we start our campaign towards another successful season in 2017, we look for these freshmen to have an immediate positive influence on our program."
The group hails from Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, England, The Netherlands and South Africa. They will join a team that finished unbeaten in the Ancient Eight last season and qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
Tessel Huibregtsen | M | Overveen, Holland | Stedelijk Gymnasium Haarlem
Played for HC Bloemendaal club since she was six in the Landelijk Meisies A, top amateur division in The Netherlands … Helped HC Bloemendall win the U14 national championship in 2013-14 … Helped high school team win national championship in 2013 … Debuted in highest league in The Netherlands, de Hoofdklasse, in March 2016 … Also ran track, finishing second in the indoor 400 meters and seventh in the outdoor 400 meters at 2016 national meet … Earned at least cum laude since grade seven … Also enjoys track and field and traveling.
