CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Adding to her postseason accolades after a successful rookie campaign, freshman Marissa Balleza has been named to the NFHCA Northeast All-Region Second Team, the association announced on Tuesday.
Balleza, who also earned All-Ivy honors, becomes the first Crimson since 2011 to earn the NFHCA distinction, when Carly Dickson brought home second team honors for her stellar year in Cambridge. Balleza's 12 goals in 2013 were the fourth most in the Ivy League, while her 28 points placed her fifth among Ancient Eight scorers.
The Crimson enjoyed a turnaround season from a year ago, and its eight wins (8-9, 2-6 Ivy League) are tied for the most over the last six campaigns.
