CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – For the third time this season, freshman Marissa Balleza has been honored as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday. Balleza becomes the first Crimson to pick up the weekly award for newcomers three times in one year since Katie Zacarian in 2000.

The Severna Park, Md., native shares the final weekly award with Princeton's Cat Caro after Balleza registered an assist in the Crimson's final game, a 2-1 overtime win over Columbia. Harvard's Elizabeth Jacobson scored both the Crimson's goals in the victory, getting the game winning helper from Balleza in the 73rd minute of the thriller.

The Crimson finish 2013 with an 8-9 overall record, going 2-5 in Ivy League play, the best mark since 2011. Balleza finishes her debut year leading the club in points (28), goals (12), assists (four), shots (63), shots on goal (40) and penalty strokes (2-for-2). She also recorded two game winning goals, one shy of Jacobson's three to lead the team.
