Harvard Field Hockey Announces 2012 Award Winners at Annual Banquet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard field hockey team gave out its team awards to the 2012 recipients at its annual banquet hosted in the Murr Center lounge Sunday morning. First-year head coach Tjerk van Herwaarden handed out five team awards and also presented Major H certificates and gifts to the seniors in front of Harvard field hockey players, staff, friends and family.

Van Herwaarden, who flew back from San Diego where he is acting as the interim head coach for the USA Field Hockey Women's National Team, also presented senior Kim Goh with her Academic All-Ivy League award at the event. Goh was also one of two Crimson players selected to the All-Ivy League team in 2012, along with sophomore Caitlin Rea.  

The Championship Lifestyle Award - Cynthia Tassopoulos
This upper classman demonstrates an elite level of quality of life academically, socially, athletically and spiritually, while exemplifying a championship lifestyle.

The Most Outstanding Field Hockey Player - Caitlin Rea
This player epitomizes the "world class" hockey player. She demonstrates the technical and tactical skills coupled with the heart of a champion.

The Unsung Hero Award - Rebecca Houser & Molly Stansik
This student athlete has persevered in times of adversity and has displayed courage while bringing positive energy to all team sessions. She has contributed daily to our successes as a championship team.

The Most Outstanding Student-Athlete - Kim Goh
This award is presented to the team's player who has displayed the most excellence on the field and in the classroom

The Freshman Award - Dina Sinno
This award stands for the player that has had the most positive impact on the season with her commitment, work rate and attitude on and off the field in her freshmen year.
