CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Harvard field hockey program has released its 2012 schedule, currently a 16-game slate featuring a host of familiar foes. In all, Harvard plays 10 games at home on Jordan Field.
The season kicks off Sept. 1 with a home game against Holy Cross. Two days later, the Crimson hosts Sacred Heart in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
The following weekend sees a road game at Providence College on Sept. 8 and a home game against perennial national power Boston College.
The Crimson then steps into Ivy League play with a home game against Yale on Sept. 15 and a road game at Pennsylvania Sept. 22.
One of the few weekday home games for the Crimson comes against Bryant on Sept. 24 with another coming on Oct. 3 against Northeastern.
In between those dates, Harvard travels to Brown (Sept. 29) and returns home for another Sunday game against Quinnipiac on Sept. 30.
The Quinnipiac game kicks off a four-game homestand with Northeastern (Oct. 3), Bucknell (Oct. 7) and Cornell (Oct. 13).
Harvard's longest road trip of the season is just three games and spans eight days beginning Oct. 20 at Princeton. The following week, Harvard plays at Dartmouth (Oct. 27) and at Vermont (Oct. 28). Then, on Nov. 3, Harvard closes out the regular season against Columbia.
Harvard is slated to play an exhibition game against Victoria (B.C.) on Aug. 26 in preparation for Tjerk can Herwaarden's first season as head coach.
