CAMBRDIGE, Mass.—Carly Dickson and Georgia McGillivray have been named captains of Harvard field hockey team for the 2011 season.
Both student athletes will be seniors next season, and both hail from Victoria, B.C. Each has been a starter throughout her career, and Dickson was a Crimson co-captain in 2010.
Dickson has started in the midfield for 50 of Harvard’s 51 games over the past three seasons, missing one due to illness. She has earned selection to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Northeast Region team in each of her three seasons and has also earned All-Ivy League honors each year, including a first-team nod in 2008. Dickson shared Harvard’s team lead with five assists and added a pair of goals for nine points this season.
McGillivray has started every game on the Crimson back line since her arrival in Cambridge. She has been honored with a spot on the All-Northeast Region second team each of the last two seasons and has garnered a pair of All-Ivy honorable mentions. . She ranked third on the team with three goals, including the game-winning tally at Penn, and helped Harvard rank third in the Ancient Eight in league scoring defense at 2.00 goals allowed per game.
