Carlton Hall begins his third year as an assistant
coach at Harvard in 2009. He will continue to work with the
Crimson's defensive line and will recruit the southern United
States with a focus on Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Arkansas,
Louisiana, Louisiana, New Mexico and Mississippi.
Additionally, Hall serves as the Crimson's
professional liaison and works closely with professional scouts.
Hall brings experience at the highest levels of
collegiate and professional football to the Crimson. He most
recently served as the defensive line coach at Georgetown, after
three seasons as an assistant in various capacities at Columbia.
Hall worked with Columbia's linebackers after the
2005 season and oversaw that position through the 2006 spring
workouts. He was the Lions' defensive line assistant during the
2005 season and served as wide receivers coach for the 2003 and
2004 campaigns.
Hall spent the summer of 2004 with the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers as part of the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship, where
he worked with that team's wide receivers and assisted in offensive
quality control.
He spent four seasons as an assistant coach at
Asheboro (N.C.) High School, including three as the school's
defensive coordinator.
Hall enjoyed a standout playing career as an
undergraduate, earning All-Southeastern Conference honors at
Vanderbilt. He was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter
for the Commodores, leading the SEC in tackles as a senior. He
received the football team's Wade-Looney Award for perseverance and
was chosen to play in the prestigious East-West Shrine Game in San
Francisco as a senior.
Hall went on to sign a free agent contract with the
San Diego Chargers in 1998.
Hall graduated from Vanderbilt in 1998 with a
degree in human and organizational development. He is an active
member of the American Football Coaches Association and the Black
Coaches Association.
