Harvard's Chapple Named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for Second-Straight Week
PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard senior quarterback Colton Chapple (Alpharetta, Ga.) has been named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week for a second-consecutive week. Harvard players have earned the league's top offensive honors all four weeks this season with running back Treavor Scales earning the honor in the first two weeks of the season.
Chapple turned a highly-anticipated Ivy League showdown against Cornell into a 45-13 rout as he tallied 415 yards of total offense and five touchdowns. Chapple completed his first 12 passes and finished 24-of-36 for 362 yards and four touchdowns through the air while running for 53 yards (5.9 yards per carry) and a touchdown. It marked his second-consecutive game with four passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown.
Chapple is currently second in the nation in passing efficiency and he is the only QB in Harvard history to record four games with at least four touchdown passes (four at Cornell in 2011, five vs. Bucknell in 2011, four vs. Holy Cross and Cornell in 2012).
Junior wide receiver Andrew Berg (Loa Gatos, Calif.) earned a spot on the weekly Honor Roll after becoming just the fourth Harvard player to catch three touchdowns in a single game. He did it on Harvard's first three offensive possessions in a span of just 15:29 and finished the game with 10 catches for 132 yards.
Josh Boyd (Hyde Park, Mass.) also earned a spot on the Honor Roll. He recorded a game-high nine tackles with a sack, forced fumble and a recovery, one pass breakup and three QB hurries.
Harvard is back in action this Saturday, Oct. 13, when the Crimson hosts Bucknell in a 3:30 p.m. contest. The game is being televised live on CBS College Sports. Check your local listings and cable packages.
