Scales, Stanton Receive Gold Helmet Awards
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard running back Treavor Scales and Massachusetts Maritime quarterback Mike Stanton have been chosen as the fourth recipients of the New England Football Writers' Gridiron Club of Greater Boston Gold Helmet Awards.
Scales scored a career-best four touchdowns, including three in the second half, as the Crimson opened Ivy League play with a 45-31 victory at Brown Saturday. The senior, who leads the nation with 18.0 points per game in rushing at better than 8.4 yards per carry, ran for 136 yards against the Bears en route to his second consecutive Ivy League co-Offensive Player of the Week nod.
Stanton posted a school-record 420 passing yards against Massachusetts Maritime. The junior signal caller also threw three touchdowns, all of which came in the second half, as the Buccaneers rallied from a 28-9 deficit to defeat Coast Guard, 42-38.
