Football's Gino Gordon Named Ivy League Player of the Week
PRINCETON, N.J. – Harvard senior running
back Gino Gordon has been named the Ivy League co-Offensive Player
of the Week in an announcement from the league office on Monday
afternoon.
Gordon is joined on the weekly honor roll by sophomore
linebacker Alexander Norman, sophomore tight end Kyle Juszczyk and
senior free safety Collin Zych.
The selections come following Harvard’s 45-28 victory at
Princeton on Saturday as the Crimson scored its most points in the
103-year series while winning for the 13th time in its
last 15 tries against the Tigers.
Gordon, who was also named Harvard’s COOP Athlete of the
Week, rushed for a career-high 204 yards on 20 carries (10.2 ypc)
with a 26-yard touchdown against Princeton. Gordon, who also had
four receptions for 30 yards, leads all Ivy League running backs at
7.8 yards per carry this season.
Norman had two interceptions and a forced fumble against the
Tigers while Zych had a season-high 15 tackles, including 10 solo
efforts.
Juszczyk had six receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns in
the second half of the game.

Harvard defeated Princeton for the 13th time in the
last 15 meetings on Saturday and scored its most points ever
against the Tigers in the 103-game series … Harvard has
averaged 30.1 points per game in its victories over Princeton since
the 2000 season … Harvard has run for at least 300 yards in
three of its last four games … The Crimson is averaging 400
yards per game on offense during league play … Since 2000,
Harvard is 27-0 when it does not fumble … Gino Gordon and
Treavor Scales had 100-plus yard rushing games on the same day for
the second time in the last two seasons … Three different
players had a rushing touchdown for a third time this season
… In its last 40 occurrences, Harvard is to 33-7 when a
player rushes for 100 yards … Since 2007, Harvard is 8-0
following a loss. The Crimson has not lost consecutive games since
weeks nine and 10 of the 2006 season … Senior RB Gino Gordon
is averaging 8.7 yards per carry in his last four games – all
100-yard-plus efforts … Gordon moved past Vic Gatto
’69 for fourth place on Harvard’s all-time list and now
has 2,295 yards. He is also the Crimson’s all-time leader in
yards per carry at 5.4 … Harvard running backs Gino Gordon
(7.8 ypc) and Treavor Scales (6.4 ypc) rank first and second in the
Ivy League in yards per carry by a wide margin. Gordon ranks second
nationally while Scales ranks 10th … Since 2003,
Harvard is 47-2 when leading at halftime … Harvard has
scored points in a school-record 124 consecutive games …
Harvard recorded 11 tackles for a loss and held Princeton to 88
rushing yards on 32 carries (2.8 ypc) and has now held 11 of its
last 17 Ivy League foes under 100 yards rushing dating back to the
2008 season … Harvard is 271-5-1 all-time (.980) when the
Crimson scores 30 or more points.
