Harvard graduate Shawn Haviland '09 made the all-star team in his first full season with the Kane County Cougars of the Midwest League. Haviland has started 15 games so far this summer and owns a 6-3 record and a 3.64 ERA.

Harvard graduate and Oakland Athletics pitching prospect Shawn Haviland '08 is living his lifelong dream of playing professional baseball. Haviland, a 23-year-old right-hander, was selected by the A's in the in the 33rd round (994th overall) of the 2008 draft out of Harvard University.

PRINCETON, N.J. Harvard had four players named to the All-Ivy League Honorable Mention team in an announcement from the league office late Thursday afternoon. Seniors Harry Douglas and Tom Stack-Babich were named to the team as were sophomores Tyler Albright and Dillon O'Neill.

April 30, 2009 Crimson Characters: Baseball's Harry Douglas
Harvard captain Harry Douglas led the team with a .342 batting average and had 52 hits, 29 runs, 27 RBI as well as a .513 slugging percentage and a .389 on-base percentage in 2009. Douglas has even shown some flashes of speed, tying for the team lead with eight stolen bases on 10 attempts and contributing a team-high 13 doubles. With his career at Harvard coming to a close, Douglas looks to stay involved in baseball after school.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Harvard came back from a seven run deficit Tuesday afternoon as the Crimson defeated Northeastern by a score of 16-13 in the final game of the 2009 season at ODonnell Field.

Freshman Conner Hulse earned his first career victory against league-leading Dartmouth Sunday afternoon to salvage a doubleheader split in Ivy League action at ODonnell Field against the Big Green. Dartmouth took the opener by a count of 11-5 before Hulse and two relievers pitched the Crimson to a 4-3 win in the nightcap.

Harvard and Dartmouth split an Ivy League doubleheader Saturday in Hanover, N.H. Dartmouth won the first game by a 14-2 score to record its 20th win in its last 22 games. The second game would be decided in extra innings however as Harvard scored twice in the 10th for a 6-4 win.

Browns pitching staff kept Harvard in check Sunday as the Bears swept a key Ivy League doubleheader from the Crimson by scores of 3-1 and 8-1.

Despite outhitting Brown in both games of a Saturday doubleheader, the Bears came out on top against Harvard to sweep a key twinbill in Providence. The Bears took game one 3-1 and edged the Crimson in the nightcap, 8-5.

Harvard remained in the race for an Ivy League Rolfe Division title Tuesday afternoon as the Crimson swept Yale by scores of 7-4 and 3-2 at ODonnell Field.
