Harvard graduate and Oakland Athletics pitching prospect Shawn
Haviland '08 is living his lifelong dream of playing
professional baseball. Haviland, a 23-year-old right-hander, was
selected by the A's in the in the 33rd round (994th overall) of the
2008 draft out of Harvard University. He's currently 3-1 with a
2.53 ERA and 48 strikeouts in 53.1 innings pitched for the Kane
County Cougars in the Midwest League. When not pitching, he
frequently blogs about his starts (and baseball in general) on his
blog, Ivy
League to MLB.
