O'Neill Named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard sophomore outfielder Dillon O’Neill has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 1 Second Team in an announcement made Thursday morning.
O’Neill, also a member of the Crimson soccer team, started 38 of the 41 games he appeared in for the Crimson as the team’s starting center fielder. The Naperville, Ill. native batted .322 overall on the season with 12 extra base hits, 20 RBI, a .410 on-base-percentage and eight stolen bases.
O’Neill, an economics concentrator, batted .396 against left-handed pitchers and was at his best with runners on base as he sported a .393 average in those situations. He also batted .389 with runners in scoring position and was an impressive 9-for-11 (.818) with runners on third and less than two outs. Multi-faceted, he also batted .349 when leading off an inning.
