Membership Facilities
The tennis recreational program is
available to Harvard students, faculty, staff, alumni and their
guests by paying an annual membership fee. Beginning in 2009, all affiliates
wishing to play tennis at Harvard must purchase an Athletic
Membership. Customers who purchase an Athletic
Membership and the tennis add-on for an additional fee can
play tennis at the following 2 facilities:
- Murr Center (indoor courts)
- Beren Tennis Center (outdoor courts)

Purchasing a
Membership
Harvard affiliates with a
Harvard ID can now purchase their athletic membership and tennis
access online by clicking here.
If you
do not have a Harvard ID or if you would like to purchase a family
membership you must go in person to the Harvard Athletic Ticket
Office: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
Friend of Harvard Sponsor
Membership (Murr Center/Beren Center tennis membership only)
- Harvard
affiliates are allowed to sponsor up to three Non-Harvard
individuals for a Murr/Beren tennis membership. Harvard gym
facilities are not available for general public use.
- Harvard
Affiliates are defined as - All Harvard employees, Undergraduate
students, Graduate students, Alumni, WGBH Employees, and respective
spouses/partners.
Annual Friend of Harvard Tennis
Membership (July 1, 2009 - June 30, 2010): $425
Summer Friend of Harvard Tennis
Membership (July 1, 2009-August 31, 2009): $125
The
Friend of Harvard Sponsor Memberships are sold Monday - Friday,
10am - 5pm at the Murr Center Front Desk. To purchase a
Friend of Harvard Sponsor Membership you must come in person to the
Murr Center Front Desk with your sponsor
(located
in the Ellen and Melvin Gordon Conditioning Center).

- Undergraduates,

- A $10 guest fee per guest will be
charged in addition to the court fees upon arrival. A member
may bring up to 3 guests for doubles play.
Tennis Lessons andClinics
Private
lessons are taught year round by Harvard's Tennis Professional,
Michael Mercier. Michael is known for his international and High
Performance Coaching and training. He is certified by the
United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), the
United States Professional Tennis Registry (USPTR), and by Pat
Etcheberry fitness and tennis training, and the United States
Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA). Michael has extensive
experience teaching juniors and adults as well as wheelchair
tennis. He is also a USTA High Performance Coach.

Tennis clinics are
held at the Murr Center. If the weather is nice, they are held
outside at the Beren Center.
There is no
sign-up for these tennis clinics; they are on a drop in basis.

Facility
Policies
- A Harvard Affiliate must accompany all
guests at all times.
- Children age 16 and under are not
allowed in the tennis and squash facilities unless participating in
a supervised racquet activity.
- Running, yelling, or other
disruptive behavior will not be permitted.
- The Harvard University Department
of Athletics is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please
check the lost and found located at each facility service
desk.
- Racquet Facilities are scheduled
with Harvard University intercollegiate teams and students
receiving priority. During the academic year, the Murr Center
tennis and squash courts are closed for varsity practice M-F
2:00-6:30pm.
- Court use is subject to
availability and all schedules are subject to change without
notice.
- Racquet facility personnel
reserve the right to revoke patron memberships if rules and
regulations of the facility are not followed:
Reservation
Policies
- Members are allowed to
reserve courts up to 3 days in advance.
- Members are
allowed only 1 prime time booking per day. (M-F 6:30pm-10:30pm,
Sat. & Sun.)
- Undergraduate, GSAS, and Extension School
Degree Students can reserve up to 3 days in advance at no
cost.
Cancellation
Policy
- All tennis
court reservations and lessons require a 24 hr cancellation
notice. If 24 notice is not given, you may be charged the
full amount for the court or lesson.
