SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Crimson pitching staff did not allow an earned run through the game's first seven innings, but Harvard University baseball fell to Cal Poly, 5-0, in the series opener on Friday night at Baggett Stadium.
Opening a 10-day, eight-game road trip to the state of California with the first of four games against Cal Poly, the Crimson (4-4) did not permit an earned run to the Mustangs (6-7) until the eighth inning when the hosts plated two earned runs as insurance.

Tanner Smith threw 2.0 innings of hitless and scoreless relief with four strikeouts against no walks.
Cal Poly scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth – all unearned. The Mustangs tacked on two runs in the last of the eighth on a walk and sacrifice fly.

- Junior right-hander Adam Stone did not permit an earned run over 4.0 innings in the start, giving up just one hit with two strikeouts. Stone has tallied a 1.38 ERA over 13.0 innings this season.
