Ways to Financially Support Harvard
FRIENDS ANNUAL GIVING – Friends group donations make an immediate and direct impact on the team, and all gifts receive class and reunion credit with the Harvard College Fund. To support a Friends group with a contribution, go to Online Giving for Athletics. Click on “Make a Gift” and select the specific Friends group from the drop down menu when prompted. Checks written out to a Friends group can be mailed to the Harvard Varsity Club at 65 North Harvard St., Boston, MA 02163.
HARVARD RADCLIFFE FOUNDATION FOR WOMEN’S
ATHLETICS - HRFWA was established in 1981 by the Athletic
Department to help provide financial and social support to women's
athletic programs at Harvard. HRFWA supports women's programs by
distributing funds annually to Friends groups through an incentive
plan that encourages women to give to their Friends group. The
interactive allocation plan draws approximately half of its funds
from the HRFWA endowment; the second half is generated by annual
gifts. Click
here for more information.
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR’S DISCRETIONARY ENDOWMENT FUNDS – Athletic Director’s Discretionary Endowment Funds are unrestricted gifts designed to allow for long-term flexibility to keep pace with new developments in the field of college athletics. Income from these funds is incremental to the Department’s normal budget. These endowment funds require a minimum contribution of $100,000, for which donors will also receive “class credit” with the Harvard College Fund. Click here for more information.
ENDOWED ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT POSITIONS – In much the same way that an endowed chair supports a university professor, Harvard’s 12 endowed positions within the Department of Athletics help provide the financial support for the Crimson’s 41 varsity teams and free unrestricted funds to benefit the Department and the College as a whole. Endowed positions can be established with a gift of $2 million. Click here for more information.
We also encourage our Friends group donors to make an additional annual gift to the Harvard College Fund to support the overall experience for our student-athletes, which includes the College’s commitment to financial aid.
