James Frazier started his role as the Crimson's Director of Strength & Conditioning in February, 2009.
Frazier oversees all strength & conditioning aspects for the nation's largest Division I athletic department with roughly 1,500 student-athletes.
The Palmer Dixon building host the Strength & Conditioning staff and boasts 24,000 square feet and the capability to accommodate large teams under one roof. The building is named for William Palmer Dixon '25, who was a two-time national squash champion, a former president of the Harvard Varsity Club and a longtime supporter of Harvard's athletics program.
Frazier was awarded one of Harvard's 2011 Dean's
Distinction awards which honors outstanding Faculty of Arts &
Sciences staff members whose hard work and skillful collaboration
have made a lasting difference for the the department.
Frazier came to Harvard from the University of Iowa where he served with the Hawkeyes' football program for two seasons while earning a master's degree in administration from Central Michigan University.
No stranger to the Ivy League, Frazier is a 2006 graduate of Brown University where he earned a degree in business economics and human biology. Frazier was a four-year football letterman at Brown, where he served as team captain as a senior while helping his team to a 9-1 record. Frazier played defensive end as a junior, earning all-conference honors. He moved to linebacker as a senior and repeated as a first team all-conference selection.
Prior to his stint at Iowa, Frazier served as a strength and conditioning intern with the NBA's Chicago Bulls. He is a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Frazier is a certified member of the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.
