Svoboda Accepts Position at Stanford
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Kurt Svoboda, Harvard’s former Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletic Communications, has accepted a position at Stanford as Senior Assistant Athletic Director of Media Relations & Communications, it was announced Tuesday.
Svoboda served as the head of Harvard’s athletic
communications department since 2007 after working as an assistant
director of athletic communications in the department from 2005-07.
During his tenure at Harvard, Svoboda led the Crimson’s media
relations, social media and multimedia initiatives and served as
the chief spokesperson for Harvard’s 41 athletic
programs.
Harvard hosted several NCAA championship events during
Svoboda’s tenure, including the 2006 Women’s Basketball
Final Four, the 2008, 2009 and 2012 Men’s Lacrosse
Championships and the 2010 Fencing Championships. The Crimson also
won seven team national championships during Svoboda’s time
in Cambridge.
Tim Williamson will serve as Interim Director of Athletic
Communications at Harvard while the athletic department conducts a
national search for Svoboda’s replacement.
