Strength Training at the MAC

North, East, and South Strength Rooms:

The lower level of the Malkin Athletic Center holds three weight rooms. All rooms have rubberized flooring, new Icarian equipment and air-conditioning.

North Strength Room (previously Cable Room: directly below front desk):

 


  • Wide selection of resistance machines
  • Smith machine
  • Hack Squat
  • Hip abductor and adductor machine
  • Multi-functional training system
  • Assisted pull-up and dip machine
  • Small weight plates (3-25 pounds)

Express Circuit Room (East Strength Room):

For those of you trying to squeeze in a short yet efficient workout, this room is designed to quickly work all major muscle groups. Try one set of 15 repetitions without rest at each of the seven stations in order. Use enough weight at each stations in order. Use enough weight at each station to make the last few repetitions difficult. After completing the circuit, rest for 30 seconds off the machines and repeat from the beginning of circuit.

South Strength Room (previously the Free Weight Room):

 


  • Dumbells (5-80 pounds)
  • Flat, incline and decline benches
  • Standard repertoire of plates and bars
  • Squatting rack and cage
  • Leg sled
