A Miami native, Achilles Carmenate is a 2011 Auburn University graduate with a degree in Communications and a minor in Spanish. Carmenate spent his entire undergraduate career working with Auburn’s Athletic Media Relations Department as a student assistant. After graduation, he took a volunteer position with the University of Miami’s Athletic Communication Office working closely with football and filling in as the primary contact for women’s soccer. He then took an internship position with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the NASL (North American Soccer League), working with every department, but focusing on Public Relations. After a year in Atlanta, Carmenate stayed in the soccer world, taking a short term communications internship with the Chicago Fire of the MLS.
Carmenate returned home to Miami to pursue a master’s degree from St. Thomas University. He will receive his master’s degree in Sports Administration this coming December. At St. Thomas, Carmenate joined the Sport Information Department as a graduate assistant, directly working with all 14 varsity sports. While perusing his master’s degree, he also volunteered with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers of the NASL assisting with game media relations activities.
At Harvard, he will serve as the primary contact for men's/women's squash, men's/women's water polo and women's rugby. He will also serve as the secondary contact for men's basketball and women's hockey.
