Bradley Smith of the men’s squash team has been named this week’s COOP Student-Athlete of the Week for the span of Jan. 30-Feb. 4.
With the No. 3 Harvard men’s squash team tied with No. 6 Penn, 4-4, the deciding point rested on senior Bradley Smith. Playing at the No. 8 spot versus the Quaker’s James Watson, the match went to a deciding fifth game. Smith built up a 10-4 lead, before Watson rallied five consecutive points to pull within one, 10-9. On the ensuing point, Smith maneuvered Watson into a back corner after a short rally and slammed home the matching-clinching point. The win preserved Harvard’s Ivy League title hopes with only two league contests left to play.
The Crimson is back in action this Friday, Feb. 9 at Yale for a 4 p.m. contest and return home Sunday, Feb. 11 for a 12 p.m. match up against Brown.
