CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Katherine Lantz of the Harvard softball team is the Harvard COOP Athlete of the Week for the week of April 7.
Lantz hit .444 in three games over the weekend to help the Crimson extend its winning streak to seven games as Harvard posted a 3-0 record with wins over Ivy League foes Penn and Columbia.
The junior registered one hit, two RBI and two runs scored as Harvard powered past Penn, 8-3, and rallied from behind in the second game to knot the score at 8-8 before the game was suspended due to darkness. Against Columbia, Lantz had two hits including a double in the second inning, a stolen base and two runs scored as Harvard downed the Lions 7-2 in the first game. In the second game, the Parkland, Fla., native tallied a pair of hits, three RBI and one run scored as head coach Jenny Allard collected her 500th career win with a 6-2 win over Columbia.
On the year, the junior infielder has registered 24 hits, seven doubles, one home run, 12 RBI and 16 runs scored. Harvard is currently 16-11 overall and 3-0 in Ivy League play. The Crimson will travel to Rhode Island Thursday, April 10 before returning home to take on Brown April 12-13.
