CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Peter Schwartz of the Harvard men’s lacrosse team has been named Harvard COOP Athlete of the Week for the week of May 5.
Schwartz led the No. 12 Crimson to the championship game of the 2014 Ivy League Tournament. The Jenkintown, Pa., native registered three goals and handed out a helper as the Crimson earned a hard fought one-goal win over No. 15 Yale in the semifinals. Harvard opened the championship game on a 4-0 run where Schwartz buried a goal with a little over six minutes remaining in the first quarter. Penn rallied and held the Crimson scoreless for 44:58 to go on and win its first Ivy League Tournament, 7-5. Schwartz was named to the All-Tournament team.
Harvard earned one of eight at-large bids for the NCAA tournament and will travel to South Bend, Ind., to face sixth-seeded Notre Dame in the team’s first tournament appearance since 2006. The game is slated for Saturday, May 10 at 2:30 p.m. on EPSNU.
