CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Nick Gruener of the Harvard baseball team has been named the Harvard COOP Athlete of the Week for the week of April 21.
Gruener helped his team down Yale, 6-2, before the Crimson fell to the Bulldogs in game 2, 8-2. The freshman, who saw just 19 batters after the first frame, went the distance in the first game at Yale Field, tossing 7.0 full innings, allowing just two runs on five hits, while striking out four and yielding just one walk. From the second through the seventh innings, Gruener afforded the Bulldogs just one base hit.
Harvard is 11-24 overall and 5-11 in Ivy League play as the Crimson conclude its regular season with a doubleheader against Dartmouth at O’Donnell Field Saturday and a trip up to Dartmouth Sunday.
