CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior Kasey Lange of the Harvard softball team has been named this week’s COOP Athlete of the Week.
Lange has helped pace the Crimson to a 2-3 record at the San Diego State University tournament with a pair of hits, along with a run scored and an RBI on day one. The second game of the day against the Aztecs saw San Diego State jump out to a commanding 8-0 lead. The Crimson staged a fourth inning rally where Lange pounded a double to left-center to plate teammate Emily Gusse before crossing the plate off of a Catherine Callaway single to right to cut the deficit to two. That is as close Harvard would get however, as SDSU padded its lead with two more runs in the seventh to secure the win.
Harvard went on to down Texas-Arlington, 12-1 before falling to San Diego State, 3-0. In the final game of the weekend, Harvard scored five runs in the fifth inning en route to a 6-0 win over Texas Tech. Lange had a hit, an RBI, and a run scored to her credit in the win.
Harvard will continue its west coast swing with a stop at the Loyola Marymount University Invitational with a pair of games against Bethune-Cookman and Loyola Marymount on Wednesday, March 19.
