CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Adrienne Jarocki of the No. 3 women’s fencing team has been named the COOP Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 10.
Jarocki had an impressive showing at the Ivy League Round-Robins Feb. 8-9 at Brown’s Olney-Margolies Athletic Center as Harvard went, 5-1, to earn a second-place finish behind top-ranked Princeton. The rookie finished the weekend as the lone competitor to go unbeaten on the strip with an 18-0 mark. On day one, the sabre fencer edged opponents from Yale, top-ranked Princeton and No. 8 Penn before continuing her dominance on Sunday to topple competition from No. 6 Columbia, Cornell and Brown. The Middle Village, N.Y., native became the first fencer in Harvard history to be named both Outstanding Performer and Outstanding Rookie Performer and the first to be honored as Outstanding Performer since Caroline Vloka ’12 did so in 2011.
Harvard will look to captures its seventh consecutive Beanpot Championship on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at MIT.
