CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Miye D’Oench of the women’s ice hockey team has been named the COOP Athlete of the Week for Jan. 20.
D’Oench helped No. 5/6 Harvard to two ECAC road wins at Colgate and No. 3 Cornell Jan. 17-18. After falling behind 4-2 to start the third period against Colgate, the sophomore forward netted the first goal of the frame to spark a comeback as the Crimson found the back of the net two more times to secure the win . D’Oench also contributed two assists against the Raiders to lead all skaters with three points. The New York, N.Y., native opened the scoring up in Ithaca, when she fired a shot into the top part of the net to give Harvard a 1-0 lead 8:15 into the first period. Harvard went onto to win, 3-1, at Cornell for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
No. 5/6 Harvard improves to 14-2-2 overall and 10-2-1 in league play, and gained sole possession of first place in the conference standings with 21 points. Harvard is back in action in the comforts of Bright-Landry Hockey Center this weekend to take on Rensselaer and Union.
