CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard lightweight crew varsity eight has been named the COOP Athlete of the Week for April 29.
The Crimson bested No. 2 Yale and No. 6 Princeton to earn the Goldthwait Cup Saturday morning. Harvard, which saw Yale jump out to an early lead, steadily gained water on the Bulldogs before pulling ahead. The Crimson would go on to win by a half length, finishing in 5:51.0 to Yale’s time of 5:52.4.
The victory by the Crimson was its fourth consecutive Goldthwait Cup, and it also helped secure the Vogel Cup, given to the top team performer in the HYP race, for the eighth time in the last 11 years.
